Quickstart
From account creation to your first routed document in about 15 minutes.
Quickstart
This guide walks through creating your account, setting up a workspace, building your first document template, and triggering a routing workflow. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes.
Step 1: Create your account
Go to account registration and create your account with your work email address. You'll be prompted to set up your workspace name, which becomes the identifier for your team.
Your free trial gives you full access to all Team plan features for 14 days. No credit card required to start.
Step 2: Invite your team
From your workspace settings, go to Team and invite the people who will be part of your document workflows. Each user gets a role:
- Admin: can create and edit templates, routing rules, and workspace settings
- Member: can trigger workflows and view documents they're party to
- Approver: receives approval requests and can approve, reject, or comment; can't initiate workflows
Step 3: Create a template
Go to Templates and click New template. Templates define the structure of a document. You can:
- Add text fields that get filled in when the workflow runs (e.g. vendor name, contract value, start date)
- Include conditional sections that appear only when a field meets certain conditions
- Upload a base document in DOCX format and map your fields to placeholders in it
For this quickstart, create a simple vendor NDA template with fields for vendor name, effective date, and jurisdiction.
Step 4: Define a routing rule
Go to Routing and click New rule. A routing rule defines what happens after a document is created:
- Select the template the rule applies to
- Add routing steps. Each step specifies who receives the document and what action is required (review, approve, sign, or acknowledge)
- Optionally add conditions to steps (e.g. escalate to legal director if contract value exceeds a threshold)
- Set deadline reminders for each step
For this quickstart, add two steps: one for legal review (review only) and one for the vendor's signature.
Step 5: Trigger your first workflow
Go to Workflows, select your NDA template and routing rule, and fill in the fields. Click Launch.
ZippedScript drafts the document from your template, sends it to the first approver in your routing chain, and begins tracking its status. You'll see the document in your Active queue with a status indicator for each step.
Step 6: Check the audit trail
Open any active document and click Audit log. You'll see a timestamped record of every action: who received it, when it was opened, when it was approved, any comments left.
That's it. You've created a template, defined routing logic, and routed a document end-to-end. From here, explore the API reference if you want to trigger workflows programmatically, or reach out if you want help mapping your existing processes.
